NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE plans to reposition the Pride of Hawaii to Europe, effective February 2008. The vessel is the largest (2,466 passengers) and newest (in service since June 2006) of the cruise line's three interisland cruise ships. The repositioning is designed to reduce capacity and increase profitability in Hawaii. NCL lost $116 million in the fourth quarter of 2006, largely due to unprofitable Hawaii operations. NCL called the move temporary, but did not provide a timetable for the ship's return to Hawaiian waters.
