MIAMI - With a blend of South Beach style and fast-paced action, the new film “Miami Vice” is sure to be one of the summer's biggest hits. And to celebrate the release of this summer blockbuster, Bacardi Rum and Carnival Cruise Lines have teamed up to create an exclusive “Miami Vice Mojito” promotion all summer long aboard the line's “Fun Ships.” Adults aged 21 and older who purchase a Bacardi Mojito aboard any Carnival cruise now through Aug. 31, 2006, will be entered into a sweepstakes awarding a trip to Miami Beach where “Miami Vice” was filmed. Additionally, adults who purchase a Bacardi Mojito when it is designated as Carnival's “Drink of the Day” will be entered into a drawing for shipboard credit during their voyage. Both of these promotions are open to all passengers aged 21 and over sailing with Carnival (no purchase necessary). "With ample opportunities for sunning and relaxing, a 'Fun Ship' cruise offers the ideal environment to enjoy a refreshingly cool Mojito. Carnival is very pleased to partner with Bacardi to offer this one-of-a-kind promotion that highlights this popular tropical beverage and celebrates what is sure to be one of the summer's most anticipated movies,” said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO. The BACARDI Mojito is one of the most popular cocktails in the country. “It's very fitting that the Mojito is so popular on the high seas as its origins reportedly date back to 1586 and Sir Francis Drake's adventures in the Caribbean,” says Abbey Glaser, Marketing Manager with Bacardi. ABOUT THE FILM Miami's Casablanca allure, the undercover cops and the attitudes of Michael Mann's culturally influential television series have been enhanced by time in the feature film version of Miami Vice. Ricardo Tubbs (Academy Award® winner Jamie Foxx of Ray, Jarhead) is urbane and dead smart. He lives with Bronx-born intel analyst Trudy, played by British actress Naomie Harris (28 Days Later, upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean II and III), as they work undercover transporting drug loads into South Florida to identify a group responsible for three murders. Sonny Crockett (Colin Farrell of S.W.A.T., The New World) to the untrained eye, may seem unorthodox, but procedurally he is sound. He is charismatic and flirtatious until - while undercover working with the supplier of the South Florida group - he gets romantically entangled with Isabella, the Chinese-Cuban wife of an arms and drugs trafficker. Isabella is played by the Chinese actress Gong Li (Raise the Red Lantern, Memoirs of a Geisha). Miami Vice, as a large-scale feature film, liberates what is adult, dangerous and alluring about working deeply undercover…especially when Crockett and Tubbs go to where their badges don't count. Miami Vice stars Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx, Gong Li, Naomie Harris and Ciarán Hinds and is written and directed by Michael Mann, who also produces along with Pieter Jan Brugge; Anthony Yerkovich serves as executive producer.
