Miami Beach, Florida – Windjammer Barefoot Cruises announced today excitingly fresh itineraries through Spring 2008.

Biggest of the news for 2007 and 2008 is the positioning of the company’s flagship S/V Legacy to Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. Costa Rica’s intense natural beauty, friendly people and excellent facilities have made it exceedingly popular to vacationers from around the world. S/V Legacy will sail round trip from Playa Herradura and will make stops at fabled Drake’s Bay, Quepos (for Manuel Antonio National Park), Golfito, Granito de Oro, Islas Secas and Isla Coiba, both in Panama. The ship will operate on a seven day schedule, Sunday to Saturday, beginning in April 2007 through 2008. During summer months, the ship will feature the always-popular Junior Jammers Kids Club, which offers special activities for the kids as well as special fares.

Another exciting development is S/V Mandalay’s return to Panama’s Caribbean coast. Starting April 2007, Mandalay will begin weekly seven-day sailings from Portobello, Panama, down the Caribbean coast through the legendary San Blas Islands. Home to the native Cuna Indians, these islands are an indigenous protectorate and the land, the sea and the way of life is carefully preserved by the watchful Cuna tribe. Windjammer’s unique relationship with the tribe permits Mandalay to exclusively offer diving excursions in the San Blas archipelago – something that no other cruise line can offer. You’ll find no chain hotels nor restaurants, no traffic and no stress. In fact, aside from the creature comforts afforded by Mandalay, you may not even see signs of civilization most days. The islands are truly almost at “the end of the world” and offer a world, a way of life and a beauty which are truly unique.

Windjammer Barefoot Cruises was founded by Captain Mike Burke in 1947. The company operates the largest fleet of tall-masted sailing ships in the world. Offering cruises throughout the Caribbean and Central America, the line is unique in that its smaller ships can visit smaller, more intimate ports than can larger ships.
